There hasn't been too much action since last time I blogged, but there is some important info about races that have happened and upcoming races on our calendar upcoming! Read on to find some recent results and other quirks! And a slight preview of the TWT, Allie is killing it with the pictures. Step up guys!
This will be the last TWT I will write most likely. I know I know, hold your excitement. It is a bittersweet moment for me.... no that's a lie, I am very happy to hand this back over to Niki. I will talk to you all in the future, but hopefully face to face and not over the interwebs.
This Sunday, the 10th, we had our next conference race out in Sylvania, OH near Toledo University. The water was questionable in the week leading up to the race, as there was a bacteria in it that was so bad it couldn't be boiled out of the water. Fortunately for us, the water returned to safe conditions before we arrived and we were able to race on schedule!
The link to the race results is here, and as you can see we did quite well! The guys team came out ahead, and the girls team got second, even though they really deserved first. Akron brought 3 girls though, so they beat us just based on sheer numbers.
I won't go into specifics about the race, and if you want them you can ask anyone who showed up. But the general highlights are as follows. Nour crossed the line first collegiately as he out-kicked a member of the U of I tri team over the last half mile of the run. Rae came out of the water first for the girls and Allie had the second fastest bike split for the girls.
One other event I want to mention is that Johan got a concussion during the bike, but is ok now. If you want to know the details, you can ask him, but for now, please just give him your well wishes and don't let him workout for AT LEAST the next week :)
2. Age Group Nationals
While we were in Sylvania, Will Dearden was up in Milwaukee competing in the Age Group National Championships. The link to his result is here. His time was quite impressive, and even more impressive is the fact that he finished the swim in 19:10 after dislocating his shoulder during it, popping it back in, and then continuing on his merry way. Great job Will!
3. Junior Nationals
Last weekend, Nour Alharithi competed in Ohio for the Junior National Championships since he is still under 20....... No comment.
He had a great race on Saturday and would've done just as well Sunday if his teammates hadn't gotten lapped out :( The link to his results is here, great job Nour!
Congrats to everyone on a great MECTC race this weekend! As of right now, the girls have 280 points and the guys have 300 in 3 races. This sets us up very well in our conference, so let's keep the good vibes flowing! A good showing at conferences could mean a big W for the men, women, and coed! We have 4 weeks, let's keep it up
Our next race will be Conference Championships in Muncie, IN. The sign ups for this race will be coming out in an email shortly so don't miss it! It is an olympic distance race and a difficult course, but always a blast. Lots of competitors show up to this race and the atmosphere is very fun so it is a great race to come to. I hope to see many of you all there!!
Note that workouts will still be posted on the website weekly!
If you are interested in racing at Nationals next year (April 2015), you must do at least 1 Olympic or sprint distance MECTC summer race! Nationals is an AMAZING experience and a great way to connect with the team! I HIGHLY encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity!
If you are interested in earning a draft legal spot feel free to contact me or anyone else on exec!

2. Need new Equipment?
Are you looking to buy a bike, new running shoes, or a new aero helmet? Are you an idiot like me who forgot his running shoes at Rockford and had to run Wolverine in shoes with regular laces? Don't be like me and email someone on Exec to help you out! We all have tons of experience buying things and can help you too!
Even in the summer we are still going strong! Bar Louie is still every Tuesday night. Pay attention to the Facebook Page or the summer listserv to see when most people are going for dollar beers. Also, remember that you do NOT need to be 21 to come, it is a normal restaurant!
This week, we are going at 7 and it will be Will's last night in Evanston before he leaves for grad school :( Come hang out with us and say goodbye to a man who has been on this team for the past 5 years!
2. Hanging out
If you are around this summer, for the whole time or even just a few days, come hang out with us! After work and working out, most of us usually have some time left in the day and have nothing to do! Don't let us be lonely, email the summer listserv or post on the Facebook group to see who else is free!
